“It Is an Embarrassment” Fans React to Controversial Universal Orlando Ride

Universal Orlando is home to MANY incredible attractions — but that doesn’t mean all of them are winners.

Fast and Furious Supercharged

There are so many rides we could rave on and on about, like Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure, Monsters Unchained, and Revenge of the Mummy. However, there are some rides that fall completely flat. Such is the case with one controversial ride at Universal Studios Florida.

According to our readers, Fast & Furious: Supercharged at Universal Studios Florida is not a very good ride…and that’s putting it mildly.

Fast and the Furious: Supercharged

As of this writing, the ride holds a 2.68 rating out of 10 and a recommendation rate of only 19%.

One reviewer wrote, “Highly do NOT recommend. It is an embarrassment to Universal and rides all across the globe.” Ouch.

Another wrote, “Things I’d rather do than ride this ride: Ride nothing at all. Wait in line at the DMV. Get a cavity filled. Sit in standstill traffic. Listen to 3 awful songs on loop- oh wait that is part of this garbage ride…This ride quite literally is the worst thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. Save yourselves. It’s too late for me.”

How do I even follow up on that? That’s the kind of criticism that’s tough to come back from.

Fast and Furious

So what exactly makes this ride so hated?

The ride is based on the Fast & Furious film franchise, and features its stars in a simulation adventure. The Hollywood version opened in 2015  and closed permanently in 2025, while the Florida version of the ride opened in 2018 and still exists.

The Florida ride replaced the Disaster! attraction and has guests board a party bus that attends a garage party before abruptly escaping Shaw on a high-speed, simulated screen-based journey that follows a similar story to Hollywood’s version. Car goes fast, lots of booms, loud effects, explosions, scantily-clad women, “when you’re here, you’re family”-isms, etc. Okay, so that list bit may be the slogan for Olive Garden, but you get the picture. You’ll get the whole “We couldn’t have done it without you” vibe while your ears are ringing from the shortened ride movie you just watched.

On the ride

Now, I don’t want to rag on the ride too much. It’s nice that a franchise as loved as Fast & Furious has an attraction that can immerse fans. And it’s not the most uncomfortable seating setup for a ride, either. It also doesn’t hurt that on the busiest days, you may be able to at least get on this ride without too long a wait.

With that said, Universal has a plethora of elite attractions, and for me to tell you this is one would be a lie.

Fast and Furious

Universal Studios Hollywood is building a highly-anticiapted roller coaster based on the IP — Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift — and no longer feels the need to offer their version of Supercharged. And fans out West aren’t exactly protesting or crying about the decision.

Fast & Furious Hollywood Drift construction

The sentiment is likely shared in Orlando. As one reviewer put it, “Too much Furious not enough Fast.” A lot of readers highlight that the queue is cool, but that the ride is pretty boring and disappointing. You just sit on a bus that tilts back and forth while watching projections of Dwayne the rock Johnson shooting people.”

Many reviews also chastise the volume level and lack of a real plot. Frankly, if you’re not the diehardest of diehard fans, there’s a good chance this ride will leave you wanting. HOWEVER, if you love the franchise, many reviews say it’s incredibly nostalgic and “fun for fans of the Fast & the Furious series.”
