We make it part of our mission to try out the items people say are “essential” for Disney World, because the truth is that some of those “essentials” are really anything but.

Now, we’ve also tried some really awesome items that we can’t go to the parks without now, but when we heard about disposable bed sheets, we knew we had to try them out to see what the fuss was about. And as it turns out? Yeah, we don’t recommend these at all.
This Disposable Bed Sheets set comes with two pillow sham covers, a sheet cover, a quilt/comforter cover, two disposable face cloths, and two disposable bath towels. They’re essentially made to replace using the sheets that are on your hotel bed normally, if you’re someone who’s concerned about germs, or just overall concerned that maybe the sheets aren’t as clean as they should be.

Now these are marketed as being reusable, which is what makes them environmentally conscious, but we’ll be honest — seeing these and using them ourselves, we’re not sure that would work. We could see maybe reusing the bath towels and/or face cloths, but the sheets themselves? Yeah, that’s a stretch. And therefore, that actually makes them worse for the environment, since you’d be throwing them away after one use.

These feel sterile, poorly thought-out, and the smell of them, especially the bath towel, was like wringing out a massive, damp paper towel. The texture of the towel and face cloth feels like the paper smocks you wear at a doctor’s office, and that’s not what you want to be sleeping on all night, while the sheets themselves looked, smelled, and felt like the sanitary paper doctors use on their tables for each patient. These felt very reminiscent of a hospital bed or setting the scene for minimal clean up before committing a crime (not an exaggeration).

They’re far from comfortable, were hard to get on and off the bed without actually ripping them, and in the words of our reporter, when we asked her if she’d buy these with her own money, “It would be a cold day visiting Hades before I would resort to this.”

For those who have allergies to dust mites or other allergens that they’re concerned could be on their bed sheets at a hotel, we 100% stay to stick with the bed and pillow covers online that are marketed towards that purpose, because those at least have soft cloth sides with padding at the top to keep everything contained. These are just thin, uncomfortable, cumbersome, and will likely make your trip harder.
We’ll continue to try out all the latest “essentials” for Disney World trips, so you know what to avoid and what would genuinely make your trip easier, so stay tuned to AllEars!
