Is 2026 a bad time to visit Disney World? Some Disney fans tend to think so…

Could 2026 be a down year for attendance at Disney World? That remains to be seen, but a fair number of our readers say they’re planning on skipping a 2026 trip for a plethora of reasons.
We asked our readers on Facebook, “Are you skipping a Disney World trip in 2026? If so, why?” Most readers answered with an emphatic “NO!”… but the sentiment was NOT unanimous.
We received nearly 300 comments, and the answers were all over the place. However, a lot of folks who are skipping a 2026 vacation cited high costs as a reason.
Reader America wrote, “Paying back my 2025 trip,” while Reader Lisa added that Disney World prices are too expensive. Several other readers suggested that they’re saving for a 2027 vacation.

Several readers also mentioned that the construction is off-putting and will keep them away. Disney World is currently adding new lands to Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Reader Felipe wrote, “Yes, because there’s is a lot construction and updates going on that I rather go to other Disney parks till the new additions are completed at Walt Disney World.”

Reader Joseph agreed, writing, “Alas no Magic Kingdom 2026 ‘cuz of walls. There’s just so much construction. We’ll return in 2027.”
Reader Lindsay is also weary of the construction, adding, “Yes, too much construction. We actually did not renew our AP this year because of it.”

International travel within the United States has slowed as of late due to a multitude of reasons, and some of our Canadian readers indicated they will follow the trend. Whether it be for financial, political (Reader Eric mentioned frustration with Canada being referenced as the “51st state”), or personal reasons, we may be seeing fewer international travelers at Disney World in 2026.

Finally, a lot of our readers revealed that they intend to diversify their theme park/vacation experiences in 2026!
Reader Angie wrote, “Promised my kids a universal run.” Reader Greg wrote, “Yes, we are skipping Disney Word in 2026 because we are going to Disneyland instead.” In fact, many readers plan to go to Disneyland instead of Disney World in 2026!

Some others are doing Disney Cruises instead. As Reader Sean put it, “Disney Cruises are where it’s at.”

I won’t be back anytime soon. Traveled with my disabled husband & his service dog & they way they were treated was terrible. To get a DAS pass he was literally in tears on the video call. He can’t do most rides & can’t stand in line for the ones he can, but Disney corporate treated him like dirt. In the parks cast members were very nice & so were other travelers. I won’t give my thousands of dollars to a company that treats disabled people the way they do. He did get his DAS pass by the way but you should not put a grown man in tears explaining his disability to make one small accommodation. I e mailed them & got nowhere. Not even a response
