The One Rule You SHOULD Break in EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion

EPCOT is known for many things, from innovative attractions, unforgettable festivals, and of course, the chance to eat and drink your way around the world without ever leaving Florida.

Mexico Pavilion

If you’re anything like me, your World Showcase journey always starts strong in one place: Mexico. The Mexico Pavilion is an absolute fan favorite for good reason. With its glowing pyramid entrance, festive music, cool air conditioning, and some of the best margaritas on property, it’s the perfect first stop (or last, no judgment). Most people will tell you to head straight to La Cava del Tequila for a handcrafted drink, and while that’s not bad advice, I’m here to let you in on a better move that will save you time, still get you a top-tier margarita, and even offer a snack or two

There’s an unspoken rule among EPCOT regulars: If you want a good margarita, you go to La Cava del Tequila. And while I won’t argue with La Cava’s legendary status, I’m here to tell you that sometimes, the better move is right outside.

La Cava

If you’re visiting the Mexico Pavilion, especially during a busy EPCOT festival or weekend, La Cava’s line can be brutal. I’ve waited 20 minutes or more just to squeeze into the dimly lit tequila cave, and sometimes, that wait cuts into park time I’d rather spend sipping and strolling. That’s why I started breaking the “La Cava or bust” rule—and I haven’t looked back since.

Line for La Cava del Tequila

Just steps away, Choza de Margarita serves up a solid margarita menu without the long indoor wait. Sure, there might still be a line, but Choza’s line usually moves faster, and you don’t have to shuffle through a tiny room or wait for a server just to place an order. Plus, many of the margaritas offered inside, like EL Diablo, The Cucumber, and Blood Orange, are also available outside. In other words: same vibes, less stress.

Another bonus? The food. Unlike La Cava, where you have to be seated at a table to order anything to eat, Choza is a counter service spot with some seriously underrated options. Think tacos, empanadas, and Tostadas. This is perfect for snacking while you sip. I’ve made a whole mini-meal out of it while watching the mariachi band play in the background. It’s quick, flavorful, and easy to take on the go.
