When it comes to dining in Universal, you’ve got a lot of options!

From quick snacks to sit-down dining and even an ice-cold drink, there are tons of options for anyone in the park. That’s why we’re stopping by Thunder Falls Terrace in Islands of Adventure to see if these two new items to see if they’re worth your time and money!
We’ve been eating theme park food for decades, so when it comes to in-park dining, we have some big opinions! If you’ve ever wanted to enter the world of Jurassic Park without the fear of dinosaurs, Thunder Falls Terrace is for you. This quick service is in the Jurassic Park section of the park near the drop for Jurassic Park River Adventure.

There are tons of indoor seating options with cold AC, which can be much needed on a hot day.

During our last stop by the restaurant, we grabbed two new items. Starting off, we have the InGen Empanada Dog Combo$17.49! It has a spliced beef empanada, a Nathan’s Famous hot dog, tomato, red onion, aji amarillo, and cilantro garlic sauce. It’s served with fries on the side.

This one was surprising! It had a bit of a kick thanks to the spice, and in theory, it sounds pretty good. The longer we had this, the weaker it got structurally, making it harder to hold and eat. The beef hot dog and empanada compete in flavor to see which of the two meats in the dish is better. We ended up more or less separating the two, and both had amazing flavors.

The hot dog was beefy and juicy. The empanada was flavorful and hearty thanks to that amazing sauce on top. It was a heavy dish overall, but very unique, and the big portion of fries on the side made it a great amount of food for the price. The taste was surprisingly good, but execution wise, it’s a little difficult to enjoy.

For our second treat, we grabbed the Pomegranate Dole Whip for $6.99. This was a frozen pomegranate dole whip, topped with pomegranate seeds! Disney might be known for Dole Whip, but they’re seriously missing out by not having this flavor!Â

The pomegranate seeds burst in your mouth, so if you aren’t a fan of popping pearls, consider asking them to skip the toppings. They were refreshing and light to us. The taste of the Dole Whip was spot on, and it felt like biting into a fresh pomegranate. It was more of a sorbet than a creamy ice cream texturally. It came in a huge cup, and you can even get a Passholder discount if applicable.
