Disneyland is about to solve one of its biggest headaches — and honestly, it’s about time.

If you’ve ever driven to Disneyland, you know parking and getting to the gates can be, well… chaotic. Between confusing traffic patterns, backed-up parking structures, and long walks just to hit security, it’s not exactly the most magical start to the day. But now, Disney’s planning something BIG that’s set to totally change the arrival experience for the better — and yes, it actually sounds like a game-changer. Here’s what you need to know about the new transportation hub coming to Disneyland Resort and why we’re already counting down to 2026.
A Brand-New Parking and Transportation Hub Is Coming
Disney just announced they’re building a brand-new parking structure and transportation hub over on the east side of the resort, right where the Manchester Cast Member lot currently sits. This new setup will bring about 6,000 parking spaces, shuttle drop-off and pickup zones, dedicated rideshare spots, a full security screening area, and better traffic access from Disney Way.

This might not sound thrilling at first, but if you’ve ever tried to park at Toy Story or navigate around Harbor Boulevard during peak hours, you know just how frustrating it can get. With this new hub, guests will have a much more direct and streamlined way to get from car to park, with less waiting, less walking, and less confusion.
The Real Star Is The Pedestrian Bridge
One of the standout features of the new hub is a brand-new pedestrian bridge that will go over Harbor Boulevard. If you’ve been around the Harbor side entrance during a busy day, you know that the crosswalk can be a mess of crowds, stoplights, and cars trying to dodge people crossing. This bridge means guests can walk straight into a brand-new esplanade arrival area — safely and quickly — without dealing with traffic.

It also creates a more connected and inviting first impression, especially for those coming from hotels or off-site accommodations near Harbor. You’ll still be able to access the parks on foot from Harbor, but the bridge will offer a much smoother way in for the majority of guests arriving from the new hub or surrounding hotels.
Better Traffic Flow, Easier Drop-Offs, and More Efficient Security
The east side of Disneyland has long needed some love, and this new development looks like it’s finally getting it. Disney says there will be a new dedicated entrance for vehicles off Disney Way, which should help reduce backup from cars trying to turn in from Harbor or Katella. There will also be da edicated space for rideshare pickups and drop-offs, which is great news if you’re relying on Uber or Lyft to get to the parks.

And maybe the best news? Security screening will be part of the new transportation hub itself. That means guests can go through bag check and metal detectors before even reaching the pedestrian bridge, which should reduce bottlenecks and help get more people into the parks faster. Anyone who’s been stuck in a giant security line during rope drop knows how big a deal this is.
What This Means for the Future of Disneyland
This new hub isn’t just about better parking — it’s the first major step in Disneyland’s next wave of expansion. As Disney gears up to add two new rides to Avengers Campus, a whole new “Coco”-themed attraction, and even a future Avatar experience over at California Adventure, it’s clear they’re prepping for a major increase in park traffic.

By investing in a more efficient, guest-friendly transportation setup now, Disney is laying the foundation for a much smoother guest experience once those new lands and rides open. It’s not the most glamorous project on paper, but this is one of those changes that will make a huge difference day-to-day once it’s done.
When Can You Expect to See It?
Construction is expected to begin in fall 2026, so it’s still a ways off. But this is a multi-year project, and Disney’s starting early to make sure everything’s in place before the next round of big attractions starts drawing even more guests to the resort.
