I Paid $50 for the Viral Cotton Candy Cake, and I Only Have One Regret

It’s cotton candy! It’s cake! It’s both!

Floof Cake

A viral cotton candy cake — officially known as the Rainbow Floof Cake — has taken the internet by storm, which can only mean one thing: we (okay, Quincy) had to try it. Yes, we ordered this $50 cake just to bring you our full review — and we only have one regret.

We ordered the TikTok-famous five-layer Rainbow Floof Cake from Goldbelly to see what all the hype was about. This cake is made of fresh, small-batch cotton candy — so there’s no actual cake here. The layers include Watermelon, Peach-Mango, Lemonade, Kiwi-Strawberry, and Blue Razz cotton candy, and it comes with a bag of sprinkles for decorating. You can also opt for edible glitter for an additional $5.

We find this to be silly, particularly the $5 extra edible glitter. However, it is a fun novelty in that it’s very pretty and it’s just as beautiful in person as it is online — the way the cotton candy is layered is fun, and cutting it was very satisfying.

If you have a cotton candy-obsessed kiddo or friend, or someone obsessed with rainbows and unicorns, this would probably be a fun treat. We would never do this instead of a real cake, but it was very good cotton candy, like extremely good cotton candy, maybe the best cotton candy we’ve ever had.

The cotton candy flavors themselves were really excellent. The best ones were the ones at the top of the rainbow — the Watermelon, Peach-Mango, and Lemonade.

Layers

The appeal of cotton candy is that it is fun to eat, and this was definitely that. But, we wouldn’t get this instead of a regular cake — maybe in addition to it.  Our biggest regret is basically that this wasn’t actual cake, and it’s also probably not worth the $48.95 cost!
