NEWS: Driving to Disney World Could Be Getting Easier Thanks to NEW Road Expansion Project

If you drive to Disney World, we have the BEST news for you!

Disney World

It might be getting easier to drive on one of the busiest roads near Disney World, and we wish we could scream this from the rooftops, we’re so excited.

A project titled “Buena Vista Drive/Western Way Interchange and Western Way Widening” has been posted on the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District.

For the interchange, there are plans for “a grade-separated interchange, with Buena Vista Drive elevated above Western Way with interconnected ramps.”  We are thrilled about the idea of elevated ramps! It would help traffic move more efficiently, allowing us to reach the theme parks even faster.

Along Buena Vista Drive, the improvements would span 1.02 miles from Buena Vista to World Drive. It’s about 740 feet west of Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf Course.

Improvements will be made by Western Way, about 535 feet from Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort to the intersection of Western Way and Buena Vista Drive.

The second part of the project is to widen Western Way from the State Road 429 / Western Way interchange to Coronado Springs. They would widen about 2.45 miles from the Turnpike to the driveway of Coronado Springs.

They plan to widen from four lanes to six. Currently, Buena Vista to Western Way leads to the Disney College Program housing, located at Flamingo Crossings. Flamingo Crossing Village has 41 buildings with over 10,000 beds, and with all the buses and drivers, the traffic can build up quickly.

You might be a Disney Adult when you’re excited about road construction near Disney World, but hey, if it makes our park days easier, we’re here for it! The project is currently looking for bids from firms and will be completed in phases.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this to see how it progresses and when we can expect changes in traffic patterns. Make sure you’re following AllEars to stay up to date.
