Marvel’s latest super-team is earning raves from critics and audiences as a “return to form” for the studio, leading many to ask when they’re coming to Disney+?

Marvel’s Thunderbolts* follows an “unconventional team of antiheroes” made up of characters including Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster and John Walker form other Disney Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films “finding themselves ensnared in a death trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, these disillusioned castoffs must embark on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts.”

The film, which was released to theaters on May 2nd, has received a mostly positive reaction from both fans and critics. Currently, the film holds an 88% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with a general critical consensus reading “Assembling a ragtag band of underdogs with Florence Pugh as their magnetic standout, Thunderbolts* refreshingly returns to the tried-and-true blueprint of the MCU’s best adventures.” This is in contrast to other recent Marvel projects like February’s Captain America: Brave New World, which were not well received by most critics or audiences.

So, when is the film coming to Disney+? Well, there’s no official date yet, however, we can speculate using previous Marvel projects as a guide. Last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine was released in theaters on July 22nd (going on to become the second most successful film of the year at the box office), and was added to the streaming service on November 12th. This 3.5-month window is in line with other Disney films.

The aforementioned Captain America: Brave New World, which was released on February 14th, has yet to be added to Disney+, though some speculate it will be added in late May or early June, which would be within the same window. This would indicate that Thunderbolts* will likely hit the streaming service in mid-August.
In addition to wondering when the Jake Schreier-directed film — which stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, Chris Bauer and Wendell Edward Pierce — will be added to Disney+ under the name Thunderbolts* or under the name that was revealed at the end of the film and in post-release promotion materials by Marvel…

Based on previous timelines, Thunderbolts* (or maybe The New Avengers?) will likely be debuting on Disney+ sometime in August. Stay tuned to AllEars for more Marvel news!
