I’ve been lucky enough to see the NEW Epic Universe theme park in person, and I have LOTS of thoughts!

I’ve been lucky enough to spend some time at Universal’s Epic Universe, and it’s safe to say I’ve been blown away by pretty much everything this park has to offer. From incredible rides to immersive theming, Epic Universe really delivers. With that said, it’s not perfect.
It’s important to note that the park is still in rehearsal since this is a preview period! I’ll be interested to see how things change when everything is up and running at full capacity.
While I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Epic Universe, two things stand out when considering the downsides of the park.

The first thing that’s kind of a bummer is that lines can get long. Keep in mind that I haven’t visited alongside the general public, meaning they can get even longer once the park officially opens on May 22nd, 2025.

The queues are LONG and that means a lot of walking or a lot of standing if they are backed up. We also have to mention lack of shaded areas, so if you’re standing around waiting, unless the queue is completely indoors, you’re likely standing out in the sun, as well.

Epic Universe is going to be popular – there’s no dancing around that. That means you should likely expect almost every attraction to garner some serious wait times, so buckle up and get ready to practice patience.

The long waits and heavy foot traffic mean that once this park opens, spending more than one day here would be wise if you have to experience everything. It’s a MASSIVE park!
Another downside of Epic Universe is that it’s not super toddler and baby-friendly. Don’t get me wrong – there is plenty here kids will love, but you’ll have a tough time finding attractions and experiences catering towards small children.

The Constellation Carousel and Fyre Drill don’t have height requirements, nor does the water play area, Astronomica. The Le Cirque Arcanus and The Untrainable Dragon shows also don’t have restrictions. SUPER NINTENDO WORLD offers a couple of play areas as well. Outside of that, there’s not much that small children will be able to experience.

Sure, walking through Isle of Berk will be a magnificent sight to behold, but outside of looking, you may be disappointed in what young children are actually allowed to do here.

Overall, Epic Universe is a massive success that should continue to get even better over time. We can’t wait to bring you all of the park’s latest updates, so stay tuned right here at AllEars to stay in the know!
