With so many new ships being added to multiple fleets over popular brands like Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Lines, and more, it’s easy to see what all the hype is about. Now, another cruise line industry leader is following in the same footsteps as several others by adding another island destination to their lineup of ports for their guests, and they’re just getting started!

MSC Cruises exploded onto the cruising scene with a focus on fun and sustainability at sea, and with the recent refurbishment of its private island destination, Ocean Cay, in 2024, it appears they’re attracting more sailors than ever before.

MSC Group has recently confirmed plans to develop an island that will become the cruise line’s newest Bahamaian destination. The new, yet-to-be-named island is being referred to internally as “Little Cay,” and when completed, is estimated to be about one-third the size of the cruise line’s existing private island.

“This second island will stay true to the ethos of Ocean Cay, offering an experience that connects guests to nature, pristine beaches, and the beauty of the ocean plus luxury facilities and water features,” said an MSC spokeswoman of the new island. Additionally, according to MSC’s executive chariman, Pierfrancesco Vago “this [new island] will offer a different experience for the different brands.”

The new destination is planned to be developed over an existing sandbank in the Bahamas, giving MSC Group another chance to build “something from nothing.” There are not many details MSC can share about the new destination at this time, as the project is still in its very early stages, however, the company has stated they’re actively working with officials and partners in the Bahamas to further the new project.
