4 Disney World CLOSURES Set to End in May

Refurbishments are part of life at Disney World, and pretty much every day at the resort SOMETHING will be down for either short or long-term work.

The following closures are set to END next month!

Caribbean Beach Resort Lobby

The Caribbean Beach Resort lobby has been in a state of refurbishment since February 17th. While the lobby has remained open and all amenities have remained available, construction has been visible. The work is scheduled to be completed on April 30th, meaning that — if everything goes according to plan – – the lobby should be in a brand new shape on May 1st.

Typhoon Lagoon

Over the past several years, Disney World’s water parks — Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach — have alternated one park open, one park closed. Typhoon Lagoon will be reopening on May 1st, and Blizzard Beach will be closing on that same day. However, beginning on May 21st, both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will be open throughout the summer!

Whispering Canyon Cafe

Located at the Fort Wilderness Resort, the Whispering Canyon Cafe promises “hearty Western fare with all-you-care-to-enjoy skillets and shenanigans.” The popular restaurant will be closed for refurbishment for a portion of May, going dark on May 12th (the day after hosting a Mother’s Day lunch on May 11th) and reopening on May 21st.

Stormalong Bay (?)

Stormalong Bay, the “3-acre water wonderland” at the heart of the Yacht & Beach Club pool complex, has been closed for refurbishment since January. Now, according to Disney, the complex will reopen in June. However, as we recently saw with the Fantasia Pool over at All-Star Movies, occasionally, things will open slightly earlier than Disney’s projected opening dates.
