REVIEW: We Ate a Porg at Disneyland and Honestly, We’d Do It Again

Star Wars Nite is in full swing over at Disneyland, and we are living for it!

Fans of the Foce Costume Calvacade

This special after-hours event takes place at Disneyland Park and includes an itinerary fit for any Star Wars fan: Star Wars character meet and greets, specialty themed menu offerings, a lightsaber instructional, exclusive merch, and much more! We got to try some of the specialty snacks available at this event—and let’s just say, we did NOT expect to feel this way about them. Let’s check it out!

The first intergalactic treat we set our sights on was the Wookiee Whoopie Pie over at Galactic Grill. This is available for $7.99 and features a Chocolate Whoopie Pie filled with Caramel Mousse, rolled in White, Dark, and Silver Crunch Pearls with a Chocolate Belt Decoration

Honestly? We really enjoyed this treat! When we got it, we were worried that it would be dense, but it was just right. The Whoopie Cookie had the consistency of an ice cream sandwich, and the little pearls offered a great crunch.

It was sweet but not overly so. We think it’s a great shareable treat, or if you have a big sweet tooth, eat the whole thing yourself! 10/10, we highly recommend!

Next up was the “Porg” Belly Sandwich over at Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. This is available for $15.99 and features pork belly served with Arugula Salad, Heirloom Tomato, and Honey Sambal Sauce. Don’t worry, it’s not a real Porg! 😉

Porg Belly Sandwich

We were VERY impressed with this sandwich! There were so many fun and bold flavors from the smoked pork belly and the spicy honey sambal sauce. It wasn’t too spicy, but it had a little kick to it, which we enjoyed, and the tomato and arugula offered a refreshing cold bite paired with the steaming pork.

If we had one tiny thing to complain about, it would be that the arugula was a bit soggier than we would have liked. We would have preferred a nicer crunch to our salad, but that didn’t truly take away from the taste. The French fries were beer battered and were very delicious. It was a perfectly-sized meal and delicious!

Star Wars Nite

Star Wars Nite runs on select nights from April 8th to May 6th. Tickets are still available online, so make sure to grab them before they sell out.
