CONFIRMED: A Disney Ride Permanently Closes TOMORROW

It’s never easy to say goodbye to iconic Disney rides when they close forever.

But that was always the whole point of Disney Parks — that they would continue to change and evolve. That goes for the international parks, too, including Tokyo Disney Resort which is why one of the rides there is closing to make way for a new attraction — and tomorrow is the last day to ride it.

In 2004, Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters opened in Tokyo Disneyland. The ride, which is similar to Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters in Disneyland, will be closing permanently on October 31st to be replaced by something new. So your last chance to ride Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters is tomorrow.

The ride will be converted into a new attraction based on Wreck-It Ralph, which is expected to open sometime in 2026. It’s likely the new ride will use at least part of Buzz Lightyear’s ride system, but it will be getting an entirely new theme with upgraded technology.

The new Wreck-It Ralph ride will allow Tokyo Disneyland visitors “enter the candy-themed racing game Sugar Rush, which is being attacked by Sugar Bugs – glitches created by King Candy. Guests team up with the beloved film characters Ralph and Vanellope to transform the Sugar Bugs back to their original “kawaii” confectionery such as cookies and cakes.”

It’s always sad to see a ride permanently close, but it’s also exciting when new rides come to Disney Parks, so we’re looking forward to learning more about the new attraction.

We’ve seen a lot of big changes at Tokyo Disney Resort recently. Earlier this year, the Fantasy Springs area of Tokyo DisneySea opened featuring three new themed lands based on Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan. In the meantime, Tokyo Disneyland’s Space Mountain closed this year for a three-year renovation.
