Buckle up, Disneyland fans because next month, you might be in for a wild ride!

As you know, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens at Disneyland on November 15th, 2024, and that’s when things might start to get a little tricky. It’s not just the excitement of a brand-new attraction. There’s a whole potential Virtual Queue (VQ) headache looming over your next Disneyland trip, and you know we’ve gotta talk about it!
As we were saying, with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opening next month in Disneyland, there could be a VQ nightmare that you’ll have to deal with on your next Disneyland trip.

Disneyland’s Virtual Queue: What You Need to Know
First off, just in case you didn’t know, Virtual Queue isn’t some Disney World-exclusive thing. Disneyland has dabbled in it before, using VQs for Rise of the Resistance and WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure.

Today, you’ve got two ongoing VQs: one for Haunted Mansion Holiday and another for World of Color — ONE. “So, what’s the big deal?” I hear you asking. Well, with the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the Virtual Queue landscape is about to get much more complicated.

For those unfamiliar with how Disneyland’s Virtual Queue works, it’s pretty similar to Disney World’s system with one key difference: the timing. At Disneyland, you can hop into a Virtual Queue through the Disneyland app at 7 AM from wherever you are (no need to be in the park!). If you miss that first shot, you can try again at noon (that’s one hour earlier than Disney World’s 1PM drop).

As we said, at the moment, you can only grab a Virtual Queue for Haunted Mansion Holiday and World of Color — ONE. Since World of Color is an entertainment offering, you’re allowed to hold that and another Virtual Queue at the same time (i.e. Haunted Mansion Holiday). But for rides like Haunted Mansion Holiday, you’re only allowed one shot per day. That’s where things could get tricky when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens.
The Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Dilemma
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disney World has been using Virtual Queue since its opening in June 2024, and we’re expecting Disneyland to follow suit. So, what happens if Tiana’s Bayou Adventure gets a Virtual Queue and you’re already eyeing Haunted Mansion Holiday? Well, let’s just say you’ll have some tough decisions to make.

You can only hold one Virtual Queue for rides at a time, meaning that if you grab a spot in the 7 AM queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, you’ll have to wait for your boarding group to be called before you can try for Haunted Mansion Holiday. And if noon rolls around and you haven’t ridden yet? You’re out of luck for that second VQ.

It’s basically a game of Virtual Queue roulette, and if you don’t time things right, you might miss out on one of these iconic attractions.
Strategy Time: How to Navigate This Potential VQ Chaos
Let’s say both rides do end up with Virtual Queues. How do you decide what to prioritize? If you’re a Tiana’s Bayou Adventure superfan, you might want to lock in your spot for that ride at 7 AM. But if Haunted Mansion Holiday is a must-do, especially since it’s only around for a limited time each year, that might be where you want to focus your energy.

In our experience, there’s still a chance to snag a Haunted Mansion Holiday Virtual Queue later in the day. We’ve seen VQs for this ride open up as late as 6 PM. However, that’s not a guarantee, especially as more people flock to Disneyland for the holidays and the excitement of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

The one bright spot about this is that Haunted Mansion Holiday uses an omni-mover system (it’s one of those continuously moving rides), which helps keep lines moving fast. That means Disney might be able to fit more people into the Virtual Queue throughout the day. But again, there’s no guarantee, especially with construction limiting the space for standby and Lightning Lane.

We still don’t know for sure if Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will use a Virtual Queue, but based on Disney’s history with big attraction openings, it seems likely. Either way, keep it right here at AllEars and we’ll keep you updated for your next Disneyland trip!
