We’re “almost there…”

At the 2024 D23 Ultimate Fan Event, Disney had two major announcements about the area of Disneyland currently known as Critter Country. The first was that the West Coast version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be opening on November 24th, and the second was that Critter Country itself will be renamed Bayou Country upon the ride’s opening.
On our most recent trip to Disneyland, took stock of everything going on in Critter Country as Disney prepares to rechristen it.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is just about two months away from opening day, and the attraction certainly looks like it’s close to ready.

We didn’t notice much new going on with the ride on our most recent visit, but there were some adorable new signs up along its construction walls.

These signs may give us a clue to the revamped vibe the area may have when Tiana’s opens come November.

We also noticed some brand-new signage for the newly renamed Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree. The longtime Disneyland favorite has undergone a refurbishment and will feature a new theme linking it to the classic Country Bear Jamboree characters who will be “putting their own twist” on the restaurant according to Disney.

The name change to Bayou Country isn’t the first time this area of Disneyland has undergone a major change. It originally opened as Bear Country in 1972 as the home of the Country Bear Jamboree, which had debuted a massive opening day hit at Walt Disney World the year before. Bear Country’s name was changed to Critter Country in 1988 in preparation for the opening of Splash Mountain the following year.

The latest transformation of the area once known as Critter Country and Bear Country is in the final stages of its transformation into Bayou Country. Stay tuned to AllEars for more Disneyland coverage.
