REVIEW: Are These Snacks Worth Waiting for 30+ Minutes at Halloween Horror Nights? We Found Out!

Halloween Horror Nights has FINALLY started at Universal Orlando Resort!

Sage in the Tribute Store

Quincy and Sage were at the first event of the year and had a great time checking out all the different houses, scare zones, and shows, but the SNACKS are also a really big draw at this event each year. They had to make some tough decisions, but at the end of the day, here are the four snacks they decided to grab!

From the Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire Kiosk, Sage grabbed the Slimer’s Korean Corndog for $11.99, which is a Korean cheese dog with Fritos, coated with Cheetos powder, ghost pepper spice, sage derby cheese, and mozzarella. This sounds like it could be questionable, but we were so pleasantly surprised! It was like a hot dog covered in potato chips and cheese, which is like the perfect elevated bar food dish in our eyes. If you’re looking for something hearty that college-aged you would have loved, this is it! However, we couldn’t taste the ghost pepper spice AT ALL, so if you’re looking for spicy, this isn’t it. We also feel it’s important to mention that the actual hot dog is only about HALF the size of the the overall stick, and the rest is mozzarella cheese, so it’s really more like half corn dog, half mozzarella stick.

Sage also grabbed the Mini Stay-Puft S’more for $6.99, which is a Mini Stay-Puft marshmallow man, chocolate bar and graham cracker from the same location! Now, this is exactly what it sounds like — it’s a s’more, but without the top graham cracker, and the marshmallow is shaped like the iconic movie character. It was good, that’s for sure, but we think it would have been better served warm, and we don’t think it’s worth waiting half an hour in line for.

At it’s own stand this year, you’ll find the iconic Twisted Tater snack for $9.99. This is fried spiralized potato topped with your choice of seasoning — Sour Cream & Chives, Garlic Parmesan, or just Seasoning Salt.

We grabbed the garlic parmesan after waiting 15 minutes to pay and then ANOTHER 15 minutes to pick it up, but this snack is iconic for a reason! The potato is fried so nicely; it’s still a little squishy instead of being crispy like a chip, and there was SO much seasoning here. It’s great to have with you while you wait in a longer line for one of the haunted houses, but be sure you have a bottle of water with you because they are NOT playing around when it comes to the seasoning!

From one of the bar booths you can find set up all over the event, we grabbed the Soured Sunshine in the well-known Halloween Horror Nights Blinking Souvenir Cup. The drink itself is very similar to a whiskey sour, so if you’re a fan of those, this will be something you’ll enjoy! It’s very juice-forward and is premixed, so it’s not as strong as if they had mixed the drink right there in front of you, but it’s still important you ensure you know your limits.

Now, this cup isn’t just a cup — if you purchase this 20 oz cup with ANYTHING you’d like, the refill drops to $13.50 INSTEAD of paying for a full 20 oz! And the best part is you can bring the cup back every time you experience the event during this year and get the same deal!
