NEWS: Flying To Disney World Just Got Harder With One Airline

Are you flying to Disney World later this year? There’s an airline change you should be aware of!

Orlando Airport

Flying to Disney World can sometimes be a necessary hassle. You’ve already booked dining reservations and a hotel, and now it’s time to go through the flying process. While we wish you could just snap your fingers and be at the Disney Parks, you still have to pick an ideal airline that offers an agreeable fare. When selecting who you’ll fly with, we have to warn you that one airline is temporarily making it harder to fly to Disney World.

Per a report from TribLIVE of Western Pennsylvania, Spirit Airlines is going to remove daily flights from Arnold Palmer Regional Airport just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Orlando International Airport (MCO) in August and September this year.

Flights from the Western Pennsylvania airport to MCO will be limited to Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday during the two months, which has been set aside due to GTF engine availability lacking.

The engines are undergoing inspection after the manufacturer notified the airline industry in 2023 that there were issues with their powdered metal composition. Two months were needed for proper inspection and repair.

Fans of flying with Spirit between MCO and Arnold Palmer Regional Airport should not fret, however. As we previously mentioned, this change is only temporary and Spirit has officially said that daily flights between the two airports will return in October 2024.

With all that said, Spirit Airlines isn’t exactly having the best PR at the moment. The airline has had problems with its new bag dropoff service and this is coming off the heels of a blocked merger with JetBlue Airways earlier this year.

Spirit Airlines has been facing a bit of financial uncertainty, so the status of the airline’s routes and operations is something we’ll continue to monitor.
