“Cinderella Castle Burned Down” and 4 More Disney World LIES Spreading Right Now

Welcome to the internet! Misinformation is EVERYWHERE.

Welcome to Disney World!

And that goes for all subjects across the board, but there’s also a lot of misinformation about Disney World out there, and that’s what we’ll focus on today. We take our jobs of getting you up-to-date, honest Disney news very seriously…but that’s not the job of every Disney-dedicated site out there. Other times, someone claims to have an experience that isn’t entirely factual, a video gets taken out of context, etc. and then the rumors spread like wildfire. These 5 statements you may believe to have actually happened in Disney World, but spoiler alert: THEY’RE LIES.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Has Closed Before It Even Opened

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure itself is pretty controversial, because many fans of Splash Mountain aren’t happy with the new retheme, and Disney’s video ride through of the attraction didn’t help things. Many viewers complained that the ride looked bare, the story was lacking, and that it overall “dropped the ball” on what the ride should be.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Well satire news site Mouse Trap News (which means anything you read on there IS NOT TRUE) wrote a post falsely claiming that due to the backlash and negative reaction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure would close during previews, not even opening to the public.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

RED FLAG! This isn’t true, friends! Even though their article claims that they spoke to a Disney World employee who “said” that they kept all the Splash Mountain props just in case, this also isn’t true. There are no plans to close Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at any time.

Turtle Talk With Crush Got Political

Courtesy of Mouse Trap News once again, there was a false report that the Turtle Talk with Crush attraction got political after a guest asked Crush a question.

Turtle Talk with Crush

According to the Mouse Trap News article, Crush began talking about former President Trump and current President Biden. We cannot stress this enough — there is no truth at all to this story.

Turtle Talk with Crush

Turtle Talk with Crush is a unique attraction because guests can ask Crush questions and get a response to their exact question right there! However, this doesn’t mean guests can ask any question — if there’s an inappropriate question asked, Crush won’t answer, or will find a way to deflect the question in a humorous manner.

Disney is Building a Marvel Theme Park

Now, we’ll admit, this one we’d LOVE to be true since a whole Marvel theme park would be awesome, but alas, the claim that there’s a whole Marvel theme park coming is another lie by Mouse Trap News.

Experts are predicting that Disney World will build a 5th park, partly to compete with Universal’s Epic Universe. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District has approved the most recent agreement that covers all the acreage of Disney World and authorizes a maximum of five major theme parks, BUT…

Disney does not have any concrete plans to do so right now, which means a Marvel theme park has not at all been approved (maybe some day though!).

Disney World Doesn’t Have Mosquitos

Now, this rumor comes from many different sources, mostly from various guests over the years. While we desperately wish it was true that Disney World was magically able to ban all mosquitos from their parks, it’s Florida and that’s impossible.

EPCOT Monorail

Now, Disney World’s website does state that they have “an extensive mosquito prevention and monitoring program” that drastically reduces the amount of mosquitos, and this we can speak to!

Pandora

We’ve noticed that we do find significantly less mosquitos in Disney World than we do in other areas of Florida, but it’s not true that they don’t have them at all.

Cinderella Castle Burned Down

This rumor BLEW. UP. online months ago, and many members of our team had friends and family members asking us if the photo they’d seen of Cinderella Castle burning down was real. No, friends, it was completely fake.

Cinderella Castle

It was a pretty convincing photo though, we have to give it to you, Mouse Trap News! However, the photo and article accompanying it saying that the castle had burned down were completely fabricated.

Cinderella Castle

This article caused such a stir that it’s since been taken down. The founder of the website talked to USA Today about the fake story and shared that he thinks people don’t check to see if the story is real or not because the title is so capturing, they share it, and then it spreads like wildfire.

Cinderella Castle

Now, as much as false Disney World news rubs us the wrong way sometimes, Mouse Trap News states plainly on their website that they’re a satirical news site and share news that is totally fake, so if people don’t check where the news is coming from and choose to share it, that’s their own choice.

Magic Kingdom

That’s why we encourage everyone to practice media literacy when reading something online. It’s important to really check where the news is coming from before sharing it with others. If you verify it’s just a satirical story, you can then share it as “this isn’t true, but this would be wild if it DID happen!”
