NEWS: Disney World’s Newest Ride Evacuated Again — Soft Open Struggles Continue

We’ve been so excited about the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

The ride officially opens in Magic Kingdom on June 28th, but in the past few days, Disney has given us the full track of the original song written for the ride, and a full POV video ride-through! Right now, the ride is in a soft open — with previews for Cast Members who were able to snag a reservation. And, well, it hasn’t been going exactly swimmingly.

Cast Member previews started over the weekend for the ride, and we have seen the ride shut down very frequently on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Today, the ride seemed to open and be running OK this morning, but around noon, we noticed it was not running again for awhile.

Our reporters have been in the park daily hoping to catch people riding, but more often than not, we’ve just see the queue line stacking up. It was very crowded early this afternoon with Cast Members waiting for their preview while the ride was down again.

When the ride came back up, it appeared that it was running without water on the drop.

The running water seems to be missing on the big drop!

And around 1:30PM, we saw the ride being evacuated once again.

Now we don’t know why the ride has been down so frequently, and it’s important to keep in mind that this is a preview. There are still 24 days until the Tiana’s ride opens to the public — and some kinks and testing and shut-downs are to be expected during this preview period. We’re hoping the ride will be up and running full-time very soon!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a log flume ride that is replacing Splash Mountain — and using the same ride system and track. It follows Tiana into the bayou to round up the final “missing ingredient” for a huge Mardi Gras party she’s throwing for her community!

Hey, Tiana!

The ride’s story takes place about a year after the end of the movie The Princess and the Frog, and you’ll get to see some of your favorite characters — like Louis, Prince Naveen, and Mama Odie — as well as meet some new friends created just for the ride.

Disney is planning to have new food in the parks to celebrate the release, and a new Tiana sipper!

Keep in mind that you’ll need to snag a Virtual Queue to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure when it opens, or buy Genie+ for the day and make a Lightning Lane reservation. There won’t be a standby queue for the ride that you can just walk up and join!

Here’s how that Virtual Queue will work!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will have a height requirement of 40 inches. One note for the kiddos — there’s no Dr. Facilier or Shadow Man, therefore no scary scenes to be afraid of in this ride. But that is causing some folks to say the ride is a bit boring.

  1. This is one of the reasons Disney has soft openings. They need to find out about issues before they open it fully.

    1. Why does the water look so brown? I don’t remember it looking like that before. I suppose it could be from construction.
