Universal’s New Tech Could CHANGE the Way You Vacation at Theme Parks

The theme park industry is one of the most innovative ones. After all, that’s why we keep crawling back again and again to try out the rides, shows, and even new takes and twists on our favorite foods.

Brands are shaking up the theme park industries by building uniquely-themed parks, implementing new technology, and more. Now, Universal has filed a patent for some new technology that could totally change the way you vacation at their parks.

Per the Orlando Business Journal, Universal recently filed a patent for a piece of wearable technology that they’re currently calling the “Interactive Way-Finder.”

Well, what is it? It’s basically an interactive MAP that can be worn on your wrist. It acts as a sort of compass. It has a screen that will have an arm that points in the direction of your chosen destination in a theme park.

Rides, restaurants, restrooms, you name it. It’ll point you there!

Plus, it can even make suggestions on what to do NEXT based on where you’re located and what your interests are. There’s also an “Emergency Mode” that can direct you to safety should you need help. One of the most anticipated benefits is that if a child is wearing the Way-Finder, it’ll be easier to be reunited with them.

That’s not all, though. It’ll also be jam-packed with information pertaining to the area you’re visiting, the ride you’re on, and more. Like, imagine Universal’s whole app on your wrist — but it’s automatically a map, too.

The technology in the Way-Finder will operate based off light/sound emitters that are placed around the theme park. It sounds a lot like a smart watch version of Disney’s MagicBand+, and it sounds AWESOME.

We’re always hunting for more theme park and entertainment news, so make sure to follow along so that you’re always in the loop.

  1. Going by the picture that’s a pretty big device to strap on! At least we’ll save on sun cream only needing to plaster half our arm lol.
