Disneyland is going through some MAJOR updates right now!

Not only is Downtown Disney getting an overhaul and closing several spots to make room for new ones, but there are updates inside the parks too. We’ve been watching the construction on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (which is set to open sometime in 2024) and now we’ve got an update on Haunted Mansion…but you’re not gonna like it.
During the holiday season, Haunted Mansion gets a makeover to become Haunted Mansion Holiday. It’s a super popular overlay and it draws a lot of long lines, but Cast Members need time to put up and take down the holiday parts.

That’s why we’re reminding you that Haunted Mansion is closing on January 22nd, 2024 to return to its original form. The last day you can catch the holiday overlay of this ride is TODAY, January 21st.

In this overlay, Jack Skellington and the rest of the Nightmare Before Christmas crew take over the mansion. There are some seriously impressive additions so we always recommend checking it out if you’re visiting Disneyland around the holidays. There is currently no reopening date for the spooky attraction.

That’s not all! Disneyland is also starting a new project to expand the area around the Haunted Mansion. Although the ride is still open, we’ve seen construction walls go up in the area.

So what does this expansion entail? Well, there will be an expanded outdoor queue that ties to the original stories and introduces new gardens including a new greenhouse! There will also be a new retail shop. We hope it’s similar to Memento Mori at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom!

These new additions “will build on the story and lore of the Haunted Mansion.” We can’t wait to see what’s in store! Disney has not announced an official timeline or date for these changes, however, we know it is happening this year.
