The battle between Disney World and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is heating up once again!

Ever since the Reedy Creek Improvement District was turned into the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District in February 2023, there have been multiple lawsuits surrounding the matter. The Board has sued Disney, Disney countersued the Board, and the state of the District has been up in the air for months.  Now, a new development has come to light that might bring back the Reedy Creek Improvement District!

According to Landon McReynolds, State Senator Linda Stewart is preparing to file a bill that could terminate the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District and bring back the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

The bill aims to terminate “the terms of office of the Board of Supervisors of the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District,” effectively repealing  Governor DeSantis’ takeover of the Reedy Creek Improvement District.

Steward, who is set to file the bill, has been outspoken about the takeover in the past. Back in December, she stated, “I don’t think [DeSantis] understood how badly this could go for the state of Florida and the counties and the cities,” before the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District was formed.
