NEWS: 'Deadpool 3' Movie Delayed Due To Ongoing Strike

If there is one film scheduled for release in 2024 that we’re really excited about, it’s probably Deadpool 3.

First, it’s likely the new Deadpool movie will bring the franchise into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That’s pretty exciting. But we’re also excited to see Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool reunited with Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. However, we’re going to have to contain ourselves because it looks like we’re going to have to wait a little longer to see the film.

So Deadpool 3 has already seen its release date get moved around quite a bit. The film was initially set to release in September 2024, but that date was pushed back to November 2024. Then the date was moved forward to May 3rd, 2024. According to Deadline, though, Deadpool 3 will now no longer meet its May 2024 release date and has been delayed.

The movie is only about halfway filmed and has been pushed back due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Although the WGA strike has ended, the SAG-AFTRA strike continues, and even if the strike ends soon, it won’t give the film enough time to be completed for its May 2024 premiere. At the moment, Disney has not yet revealed a new release date for the movie.

This could potentially affect other movies in the MCU, too, given that they’re all probably connected in some way. However, it could mean that Captain America: Brave New World, which initially had a May 2024 release date and was pushed back to July 26th, could move up instead.

This likely is one of many films that will find its release date pushed back, especially if the SAG-AFTRA strike continues. There hasn’t been any resolution yet between the union and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which means that although the writers have returned to work, the actors haven’t. We’ll just have to keep an eye on those release dates to see what changes.
