Disney Fans Have Some 🔥 HOT TAKES 🔥 About Popcorn Buckets

No matter your style, Disney World is full of souvenirs for you to choose from.

It’s time to go shopping!

Some are practical, some are beautiful, and some are intensely polarizing. Minnie Ears — a park outfit must, or headache waiting to happen? Bubble wands — magic makers or big-time annoyances? Today, we’re talking about popcorn buckets. Love them or hate them, they are popular! But, we have a few controversial opinions about them that we need to talk about.

Recently, we asked our readers on Facebook what they thought about this iconic souvenir, and they had some thoughts. A lot of people really like them, but what are the downsides? Let’s get into it.

Takes Up Too Much Space

As cute as they can be — these things take up a fair amount of space. This can be a dilemma in a few ways. For one, when you’re walking around the park, it’s one more thing you have to worry about.

If you’re not carrying around a large enough bag to store it in, these can feel like a burden. Sure, they typically come with a strap to make carrying them a bit easier, but it can still feel like an inconvenience at times — like when you’re trying to get on a ride or squeeze through a crowd of people.

This can also create a problem when you’re trying to pack your luggage for the trip home. Only working with a carry-on? Good luck trying to fit one of these in your bag! Even if you are checking a larger bag, these can take up a lot of space, so you really need to make sure having one is a priority for you!

Lastly, once you get it home, where do you put it? A lot of readers shared that they don’t want it to take up real estate in their homes — or for that matter, have to worry about dusting it and keeping it clean.

Too Expensive

If you’re a big popcorn eater, a souvenir popcorn bucket might make financial sense for your group. After you make the original purchase, popcorn refills only cost $2.25. One regular box of popcorn typically costs $5.50, so you can save some money this way.

However, the basic souvenir popcorn buckets start at around $13, and the premium ones can reach almost $30. That’s a hefty chunk of change for some popcorn!

Recently, we’ve seen the Disney100 Premium Cinderella Popcorn Bucket in Disney World for $28. During Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the Nightmare Before Christmas Mayor’s Car bucket was selling for $28 as well.

For popcorn and a souvenir, that might not be too bad for you, but it’s definitely something to consider if you have your eye on one of these buckets.

Overrated

Lastly, many readers thought these were just overrated. That is…until they aren’t.  A lot of visitors have similar thoughts about popcorn buckets — they take up too much space, are too expensive, etc. — until they see one they really love.

For example, reader Al said that they are “overrated… unless it’s Figment.” Another reader, Genna, said that it depends on the design — “The Cinderella one and the Figment one are must-haves”
