Since Bob Iger took over as Disney’s CEO in November 2022, there have been some major shakeups at the company. Some executives have also been impacted by Disney’s 7,000 job cuts this year. But now, we’ve got news about another major CEO in the entertainment industry.

According to CNBC, NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell has stepped down from the role after an investigation “into a complaint of inappropriate conduct.” He has departed effective immediately.

Shell released a statement saying “Today is my last day as CEO of NBCUniversal. I had an inappropriate relationship with a woman in the company, which I deeply regret. I’m truly sorry I let my Comcast and NBCUniversal colleagues down, they are the most talented people in the business and the opportunity to work with them the last 19 years has been a privilege.”

Jeff Shell became CEO in January 2020 after serving as Chairman of NBCUniversal Film and Entertainment for many years. Comcast, who owns NBCUniversal, hired outside counsel to begin an investigation after receiving a complaint.

In a company email, it was noted that Shell’s team will now report to Comcast President Mike Cavanagh. The company currently has no plans for anyone to take over Shell’s former position.
