McDonald’s Announces a NEW Menu Item!

We go to McDonald’s more than we care to admit — but hey, someone has to check out all those fun Disney-themed Happy Meal toys, right?

But for those of us who are plant-based eaters, we might just have a new reason to visit the fast food joint. One of McDonald’s most popular menu items is getting the plant-based treatment.

According to AP News, McDonald’s is bringing plant-based McNuggets to its menu next week. The fast food chain will start marketing the new McNuggets in Germany first. The McPlant Nuggets are made from peas, corn, and wheat with a tempura batter and were made in partnership with Beyond Meat, which McDonald’s partnered with in 2021 for its McPlant Burger.

McDonald’s previously tested its McPlant nuggets last August in Stuttgart, Germany. The company will also start offering the McPlant burger in Germany next week. However, the availability of both in other markets depends on consumer demand.

So far, McDonald’s plant-based options have been more popular in Europe than in the U.S., though. And although the company tested the McPlant burger in the U.S., there have been no announcements about the burger being offered there. So if you’re looking to try out these plant-based options and live in the U.S., you might be out of luck.
