Reedy Creek Update, TRON Ride Sneak Peeks, Plus More Big Disney News Of The Week

Well, it’s February, and that means a lot is going on with Disney right now.

We’ve got Bob Iger’s first earnings call since his reinstatement as Disney’s CEO coming up this month, AND it’s the beginning of Celebrate Soulfully at Disney World and Disneyland, as well as the season of Valentine’s Day. In case you missed any big Disney news this week, though, we’ve got you covered.

TRON Lightcycle / Run Updates

We got even MORE updates about TRON Lightcycle / Run this week. Disney shared video of the ride’s Upload Conduit, which is the visual display around the ride that will change with each ridethrough! We also know that the height requirement for the ride will be 48 inches.

Finally, Disney released some ride footage to tease what a ride on the new attraction will be like.

EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival

The EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival runs from March 1st through July 5th. Disney already confirmed the return of the Garden Rocks concert series, but recently, the company released the full line-up for the concerts, which will include Daughtry, Smash Mouth, Blue Oyster Cult, Switchfoot, Simple Plan, and more!

Disney also unveiled details about the Garden Rocks dining packages, which will be available at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, Biergarten, Coral Reef Restaurant, Garden Grill Restaurant, Le Cellier Steakhouse, Regal Eagle Smokehouse, Rose & Crown Dining Room, and Spice Road Table. Guests can begin booking reservations for the dining packages on February 9th.

New Character Meet and Greets

Disney World has some new character meet and greets. First, you can now meet Max in his Powerline costume at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. However, there’s another new character meet and greet in Disney World you may NOT have expected.

If you visit the M&M’s Store at Disney Springs, you now have a chance to meet the M&M’s characters. You can meet an M&M’s character on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12-8PM.

Reedy Creek Dissolution Update

Now that the state of Florida seems intent on going through with the dissolution of Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID), we’ve got an update to share. A special legislative session will be meeting on Monday, February 6th.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, “the Florida Legislature will convene a special session Monday to consider a state takeover of Disney World’s Reedy Creek Improvement District.”

Disneyland Updates

As of this weekend, Disneyland guests can now park hop between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure as of 11AM. Previously, guests had to wait until 1PM to park hop.

Disneyland guests also now have FREE downloads of their PhotoPass attractions downloads. This is for rides that have PhotoPass options at both parks.
