Disney Is Working on Another ‘TRON’ Movie!

Disney recently announced that its newest coaster — TRON Lightcycle / Run will be opening in Magic Kingdom on April 4th, 2023. Not only that, but another film is officially in the works at Disney!

Deadline has reported that Tron: Ares is a go at Disney! The sequel to Tron: Legacy is in “early negotiations” with Jared Leto set to star.

Joachim Rønning is reportedly directing the film, who also worked on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Tron: Ares will begin filming in Vancouver this August.

The next installment will be written by Jesse Wigutow, with Sean Bailey and Sam Dickerman as executives. Justin Springer, Leto, Jeffrey Silver, and Emma Ludbrook are producers. Tron got its Disney start in 1982 with Jeff Bridges as the star. Tron: Legacy came out in 2010 and stars Bridges, Garret Hedlund, and Olivia Wilde.

  1. We need more Tron video games & short subject films similar to what was done for Blade Runner. Also evening events with music & costumes and perhaps a Tron presence at Comic Con, Dragon Con, etc.

  2. Let’s hope Jared Leto doesn’t kill another movie with bad acting like he has with the first Suicide Squad as the worst Joker ever and as Morbius in that horrible movie!
