Disney is no stranger to creative merchandise collaborations!

We’ve seen Disney release connections in partnership with Coach, Gucci, Vera Wang, Dooney & Bourke, Loungefly, and plenty more! And now there’s a sustainable Mickey fashion collection coming out — at one exclusive Disney event!
Disney will soon debut a sustainable fashion merchandise collaboration with Bentgablenits at the 2022 D23 Expo this September! This collection will feature Mickey Mouse clothing upcycled from materials that could have otherwise ended up in a landfill.

Involved in the Bentgablenits brand are creators Brenda Bent, Karen Gable, and Angelo Nitsopopoolus, who each bring a different fashion background to the brand. Their original goal was to “work on vintage iconic brands and upcycle them into trendy new pieces,” but their success led them to collaborations with other companies.

Bentgablenits centered this collection on “dressing Mickey up” and sought to find tops with “OG” Mickey in the same pose. They decided to add more materials to the tops, including fuzzy ears, hand-dyed flowers, and appliqués. Their goal was to upcycle everything, from the trims to the embellishments to the tops themselves.

Bentgablenits chose to collaborate with Disney because “Disney values sustainability.” If you aren’t familiar with the term “upcycling” it means taking something no longer being used and refreshing it into something new. The Bentgablenits brand does this by finding Mickey tops that already exist, and they then freshen them up with new elements.

If you have a ticket to the 2022 D23 Expo, you’ll be able to check out this collection there (along with lots of other exclusive merchandise) — but if you don’t already have tickets (tickets have already sold out) you’ll have to wait and see if the collection gets released elsewhere. If you wanted to check out the D23 Expo from home, don’t forget to check out their livestream — and check back with AllEars for more info straight from the event!

The D23 Expo takes place on September 9th, 10th, and 11th at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. We can’t wait to see what news drops at the event — so keep following AllEars for all your Disney updates!
