Live-action remakes have been a part of Disney’s recent choice in films with Mulan coming to Disney+ just this past month and movies like Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book, and more debuting on the big screen previously.
As Disney continues to move forward with plans for other live-action movies, like The Little Mermaid, we have been extremely excited over the fact that Peter Pan would finally be getting the recognition it deserves with a new adaptation.
David Lowery will be breathing fresh air into J.M. Barrie’s Peter and Wendy as he gets set to direct alongside co-script writer Toby Halbrooks and producer Jim Whitaker. The star-studded cast has already received many of its main characters, but now we know that ABC’s Black-ish and Grown-ish actress Yara Shahidi is Disney’s new live-action Tinker Bell.
According to Deadline, Shahidi will be joined by Jude Law as Captain Hook, Alexander Molony as Peter Pan, and Ever Anderson as Wendy Darling. We thought we couldn’t be more excited about this movie, but this cast sounds pretty incredible!
The studio plans to release the film to theaters and not Disney+, so we aren’t exactly sure when production and its premiere will be taking place. However, we’ll keep you updated with all the details you need to know!
Take a look at the fun way Disney+ will be taking some of its movies to a drive-in theater experience!
