For the past few years, another Tron sequel has been in the works, although there has yet to be an official announcement that the film was in production.

Now, it is being reported that a director has been attached to the project, indicating that we may be one step closer to finally getting another Tron film!
Deadline has reported that the next installment in the Tron franchise will be directed by Garth Davis. Davis is most well known for directing the 2016 film Lion, which earned several Academy Award nominations.

Also slated to star in the next Tron film is Jared Leto, who will also serve as one of the film’s producers. Leto has been working on the project since 2017. This film would certainly boost Tron’s presence as a major Disney franchise, as the Tron Lighcycle Run coaster is currently under construction at Magic Kingdom.

The film is being reported as being a sequel, which indicates that the project will follow the events of Tron: Legacy, which came out in 2010. The film is still in development and has yet to receive an official green light, so we will keep our eyes on this project and will let you know if we learn anything more!
