Today, the CDC released new recommendations for states considering re-opening.
The new guidelines are voluntary and lay out some procedures for businesses, offices, childcare facilities, and schools to re-open.
These new guidelines offer “decision tools” to assist different types of businesses plan their re-opening. For example, the restaurant tool offers a flow chart with questions and depending on how you answer, it advises on if re-opening is recommended.
The guidelines suggest marking spots on the floor in restaurants to ensure social distancing and talks specifically about disinfecting and cleaning procedures.
The guidelines addresses the re-opening of schools, youth programs, and childcare programs. They use a similar flow chart “decisions tool” to offer suggestions on when to re-open these, but don’t mandate a specific capacity for program operation.
This past Tuesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci addressed Congress and advised against re-opening too soon. “There is a real risk that you will trigger an outbreak that you may not be able to control,” stated Fauci.
As we noted earlier, these guidelines are voluntary. Many states and areas are already starting their re-opening procedures. Today Universal CityWalk re-opened and Disney Springs is set to re-open next week, on May 20th.
