There’s a lot happening over at the Most Magical Place on Earth! Between the Epcot transformation, and construction on the upcoming Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, there’s a lot of magic and pixie dust at work over at Disney World.

And now, we have confirmation of another ride that will be undergoing a brief refurbishment this spring over at Magic Kingdom!
Big Thunder Mountain in Magic Kingdom will be closed for refurbishment from May 4th through May 21st, 2020.

We found confirmation of the dates for the closure on the popular attraction’s page on the Disney World website.

These short refurbishments are meant to freshen up rides, so “the wildest ride in the wilderness” will be good as new when it opens back up at the end of May!

One of our favorite attractions. No soup for us. We will be visiting May 7 – 16. That is a bummer. We have known about this refurbishment for some time. It will be missed. I think we shall stop and pay homage, to this great mountain.
May 4th, the day we arrive!! Great ride, but I won’t be too devastated. Now, if the MK Railroad never reopens, I will be angry. If you notice, there is no mention of how long it will be closed for. Just mentions that it is closed for the Tron construction. Remember how long 20 Leagues sat closed before it was officially closed? Just sayin.
i have NEVER been on this ride and it seems every time i go, it is down… dang it!!!! Can’t change dates because my parents are the ones who have all the reservations and such done already…. one day… one day i WILL get to ride this ride….
Heading down at the end of February!
My oldest daughter and I will be visiting April 24-28, so I am relieved that BTM will be operating during those days.
