When you’re a kid, everyone always tells you that you can grow up to be anything… even President of the United States. But what would the childhood of a future president look like?

In the new Disney+ Original Series, Diary of a Future President, we’ll get to find out as we follow the adventures of 12-year-old Elena (Tess Romero), an ultra-observant Cuban-American girl, as she begins her journey to become President of the United States!
The new series from CBS Television Studios and I Can and I Will Productions follows the young Elena, described as “unabashed” and “ultra-observant”, as she navigates the trials and tribulations of middle school. Romero, the show’s star, has previously been featured on Blindspot, and the sketch comedy series Alternatino.

Other stars include Charlie Bushnell, making his acting debut as Elena’s brother Bobby, Selenis Leyva (Orange is the New Black) as Elena’s mother Gabi, and Michael Weaver (Here and Now) as Sam, a lawyer at Gabi’s firm in the beginnings of a relationship with her. Executive producer Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) guest stars as Elena’s future self, the President of the United States.
Other big names behind the show are creator Ilana Peña (Crazy Ex Girlfriend) whose childhood inspired the show, fellow executive producer Emily Gipson (Someone Great), and showrunners Robin Shorr (The Carmichael Show) and Brad Silberling (Jane the Virgin).
The show airs on January 17th, 2020 exclusively on Disney+.
