The “Practically Perfect” Birthday Weekend: Day 3 – SURPRISE!!

Mary, Mike, Steve, Vickie, Deb, Linda, Michelle and I had a great breakfast together. We talked about the entire weekend and found ourselves laughing so much.

After breakfast Mike, Mary, Michelle, and I said our goodbyes to Deb, Linda, Steve, and Vickie who were leaving around mid-day.

I was so grateful for their part in all of this and thanked them for their gesture of friendship and generosity. I will never forget this weekend.

Mike, Mary, Michelle, and I then walked to the hotel that Beci, Annette, and Len were staying. We had an hour or two before they had to leave and we wanted to spend some time with them.

We had some good laughs before the clock struck 11 which meant it was time to go.

Len had to leave first, and then Beci and Annette.

We said our goodbyes and then Mike, Mary, Michelle, and I headed off to see the Empire State Building.

I guess they could resist hanging these posters up in the hallways.

Michelle treated me to a trip to the top of the huge skyscraper, 102 floors, and I saw NY like I had never seen it before.

Here are what I would call a “bird’s eye view” of the city.

After that we had a late lunch at an Irish Pub filled with people watching the World Cup Final Match.

We then headed back to the hotel to pick up our stuff, bid our farewells as Mike and Mary went to catch a bus or two and Michelle and I made our way to Penn Station for the trip back to Boston.

A lot of you reading this little trip report may have followed the tweets on Twitter and the updates on Facebook.

I hoped you enjoyed this little adventure with me.

This was the most amazing birthday I have ever had and there is just no way anyone can place a value on friendship.

The gesture of friendship made by all these people who spent the weekend with me will never be forgotten.

The best thing that happened this weekend was my seeing my friends smile, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company.

There is definitely a Disney connection here. It was Walt Disney who brought us altogether and had a hand in helping to forge our friendship and that is where this birthday celebration gets it’s Disney Roots.

I want to thank Deb, Linda, Steve, Vickie, Fred, Renee, Mike, Mary, Len, Annette, Beci, and Michelle for their friendship and generosity over the years.

I want to give a special thanks to Beci Mahnken of MouseFanTravel who goes that extra mile for her friends and clients and always never fails to amaze me by making the impossible…well possible.

With apologies to Mary Poppins”¦the title of this blog is wrong it was not a “practically perfect” birthday, but instead, it was the perfect birthday.

I am a very, very lucky man.
