Walt Disney World has announced that after nearly 20 years, "IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth" will end its run in the second half of next year. "IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth" is planned to run until the end of summer 2019. It debuted in October 1999 as part of the Walt Disney World Millennium Celebration. The Disney Parks Live Entertainment team is currently creating a new show that will debut immediately following the conclusion of "IllumiNations," to continue the tradition of nightly entertainment on World Showcase Lagoon.
Beautiful Belle Merchandise Graces France Pavilion
Posted onI had an hour to kill before my flight back home the other day, so of course I went to one of my favorite spots — the France pavilion in Epcot to have a coffee and a bite to eat at Boulangerie Patisserie les Halles. As I approached the bakery, which shares space with a … Continue reading "Beautiful Belle Merchandise Graces France Pavilion"

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Ratatouille’ Attractions Coming to Epcot
Posted onPlans were unveiled unveiled at the D23 Expo on July 15 that Epcot will receive not one, but two new attractions inspired by popular films. A "Guardians of the Galaxy"-inspired attraction will be added to Future World, adhering to the original vision of Epcot's Future World as the place to experience the excitement and adventure offered by space travel. This new attraction will replace the current Universe of Energy attraction, which will close August 13, 2017. Disney-Pixar's "Ratatouille"-inspired attraction will be added to the France Pavilion in World Showcase. The attraction will expand the pavilion. Similar to the 4-D attraction Ratatouille: The Adventure that opened at the Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris in 2014, guests will be able to shrink to Remy's size and scurry to safety in a dazzling chase across a kitchen with the sights, sounds and smells of Gusteau's legendary Parisian restaurant.
According to Disney leaders, both attractions will open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort in 2021.

The Music of “Impressions de France”
Posted onFrom the first peaceful notes of a lone flute to the concluding triumph of a full symphony orchestra reinforced by pipe organ, "Impressions de France" at Epcot's France pavilion has thrilled generations of visitors as much for its music as for its visual panorama of western Europe's largest and most varied landscape.
The 18-minute presentation is the oldest film still running in its original version at Walt Disney World. Displayed across five screens in a 200-degree arc - the normal field of vision of a (very comfortably) seated human - the presentation has played roughly 200,000 times by my calculations since Epcot's opening day on Oct. 1, 1982.
