Disneyland Half Marathon 2012 – Part 2

Another Disneyland Half Marathon completed! We had a very good race, and finished in 2:25:30, which is a really good time for us in a Disney race since we stop for photos – though we didn’t stop for all the characters this time. This year the half marathon started a little earlier – at 5:45 … Continue reading "Disneyland Half Marathon 2012 – Part 2"

Disneyland Half Marathon 2012 – Part 1

Labor Day weekend - that means it's once again time for the Disneyland Half Marathon! We will be running it Sunday morning with 16,998 of our closest friends (and a number of Team AllEars teammates, as well). This will be the 7th Disneyland Half Marathon, and our 5th time running it. We really enjoy it. They have tweaked the parks part of the course again this year because Cars Land and Buena Vista Street our now open! So we'll get to run through Cars Land tomorrow. We've made a long weekend of it, and arrived on Friday night. We are using our DVC points to stay at the Villas at the Grand Californian (we love this resort). We're on the 5th floor, and this was what we saw when we arrived in our room Friday night! Grizzly Peak and a blue moon over the Tower of Terror. We can also see the Cadillac Range in Cars Land through the trees. It's a great location.

Buena Vista Street and Cars Land

Buena Vista Street, the new entrance to Disney California Adventure, is the main focus of Laura Gilbreath's latest report from the grand reopening festivities at that park. As most Disney fans know, Main Street USA was inspired by Walt Disney's boyhood home of Marceline, Missouri. Buena Vista Street is inspired by Los Angeles in the 1920s and 1930s, where Walt Disney came as a young man full of dreams and ambition. Laura has lots of photos and video, as well as details from the World of Color, enhanced with special Glow with the Show mouse ears.

On Tuesday, June 5, Laura Gilbreath was part of a group of media who were invited to take a "Sneak Peek" at Buena Vista Street and Cars Land. While they were allowed to take photos and video, they were not permitted to share any of it with the public, or even talk about the experience, until Wednesday, June 13. Laura offers her opinions on the new areas, and shares photos and video of Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, Luigi's Flying Tires, Radiator Springs Racers and much more.
