We Are Bringing You A HUGE Universal Construction Update

There is currently lots of construction happening over at Universal Orlando.

Between maintenance, re-themes, and new attractions, there is a lot to be excited for at Universal Orlando, and today we are bringing you an update on three construction projects happening over at Universal Studios.

Currently, the popular restaurant and bar Finnegan’s Bar and Grill is undergoing an extensive refurbishment. It closed back on January 12th, 2026, and while there is no exact reopening date confirmed, Universal projects that it will be back in operation sometime in the winter of 2026. On our recent visit, we noticed that there are construction walls up and the entire building is covered.

Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show is also under refurbishment. It closed on May 12th, 2026, and will be reopening with an updated version sometime in winter 2026.

This show is hilarious and gives you a behind-the-scenes look at how movies use special effects, and we cannot wait to experience it again when it reopens later this year. Currently, the only construction progress you can see is walls around the entrance and a sign that says, “Enhancement in Progress.”

Now, the most exciting construction happening right now is Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster! This exciting new coaster is replacing the former Rip Ride Rockit, and it features 360-degree cars that spin on the track to simulate drifting. This ride looks incredible, and we are so excited for it to open. On our last visit, we noticed lots of track has been put in!

There is still obviously lots of track that still needs to be put in but it’s so exciting that we are starting to see this coaster take shape. The exact date has not been revealed but it is set to open sometime in 2027.
