Magic Kingdom is undergoing a lot of changes right now, but a new one is about to begin quicker than you think.

Construction is well underway at Magic Kingdom for Piston Peak and Villains Land, and while construction walls are up everywhere, some rides have just reopened after refurbishment, like Big Thunder Mountain! Now, another ride is about to have an extended closure, and this is a big one.
Last D23, Disney shared that we would be getting a new scene in the Carousel of Progress featuring Walt Disney. Now, we have more details on these changes and when they will happen.

Carousel of Progress has set a closing date in Magic Kingdom for July 6th, 2026. You have just over a month to get your final rides in of the current version.

In 2027, the show will reopen with a complete timeline shift! New decades are being added to the attraction, including the 1960s, 1980s, the new millennium, and the possible future. Something we’re very happy about is that “Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” by the Sherman Brothers will be staying in the ride!
Answering Your #1 Question About the Carousel of Progress Changes in Disney World

Disney previously revealed that a Walt Disney animatronic would be added to the very first scene of the show. The first of its kind animatronic debuted at Disneyland for the new “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” show last year, but this will be the first one at Walt Disney World. He will be in a scene inspired by the 1964 special “Disneyland Goes to the World’s Fair,” which is where he first revealed the idea for Carousel of Progress.

Be sure to stop by the attraction before July 6th to ride the current version one more time. We’ll be in Magic Kingdom covering every change you need to know about, so stay tuned to AllEars for more!
Why Disney Adults Are Suddenly Changing Their Minds About the New Muppets Coaster
What do you think of the changes coming to the attraction? Tell us in the comments.

the new 4th act looks like a 60 mid century set to me. Unless this is meant to be before the moon landing, its already out of date.
It is a terrible change to eliminate the early decades. How will our children know what it was like for their grandparents and others when these are being eliminated? I was born in the 40’s and I definitely appreciated the early scenes!
Why can’t they be left in by expanding the building to accommodate them?
