Alright, I have a problem, and I bet you might too (or you know someone who does). I’ve always been a chronic overpacker, but these 5 things have saved me.

I am the kind of person who packs “just in case” outfits, three pairs of shoes I might wear, and enough toiletries to survive a month-long cruise. But with rising baggage fees and the increasing chaos of gate-checking, I challenged myself recently to fit everything I needed for a weeklong trip into my carry-on. And it’s because of these five items right here!
After a little trial and error (and a lot of late-night Amazon scrolling), I found a handful of travel products that completely changed the game. These five sneaky Amazon finds didn’t just help me fit more, but they made my bag organized, accessible, and surprisingly easy to live out of while traveling. Whether you’re heading to Disney World or hopping across the country, here’s what worked, why I love them, and how they can save you serious space.
1. Portable Hanging Travel Shelves
This thing is pure genius. The TABITORA Hanging Travel Shelves are like a portable dresser that collapses neatly into your suitcase. When you arrive, you just pull it out and hang it in the closet with no need to unpack item by item. I fit an entire week’s worth of clothes, two pairs of shoes, a sweatshirt, and even a couple of pairs of Minnie ears into this thing.

It works like a packing cube and mini closet in one: You stack your outfits on the shelves, cinch it down to compress, and zip it right into your carry-on. I can’t overstate how satisfying it feels to open your bag and see everything neatly instead of digging through piles of clothes.

Pro Tip: Hang it up in your hotel room the moment you arrive. You’ll instantly feel settled and organized. Plus, repacking is just as easy. I clipped it back together at the end of my trip, and it was packed in under five minutes. Is it bulky? Yes, a little. It took up my whole carry-on, but honestly, that’s because it fit so much.
2. Packing Cubes
If the hanging shelves are the “organizer,” these are the space-savers. Compression packing cubes are one of those things I didn’t believe in until I tried them, but now I’m never traveling without them. You fill each cube, zip it closed, and then zip again to compress out the air.

Personal Tip: I pack one cube per day or category — like tops in one, bottoms in another, sleepwear and swimwear in the third, and my “extras” in the last one. This makes it so much easier to grab what you need without tearing your suitcase apart.
3. This Large Carry-On Travel Backpack
Okay, I have to admit that this backpack is my new travel MVP. It’s technically a backpack, but it fits like a mini suitcase. I managed to pack my entire park day setup with a laptop, snacks, toiletries, chargers, AND an extra pair of shoes, and it still counted as a personal item.

It opens like a suitcase, which means you can lay it flat and fold your clothes neatly instead of cramming everything in from the top. It’s waterproof (a must for Florida weather), and it slides perfectly under the airplane seat in front of you.

Pro Tip: Pair this with your rolling carry-on to double your packing power without checking a bag. You can fit all your park essentials here and still have room for souvenirs on the flight home.
4. Over-Luggage Organizer
This was a total impulse buy that turned into one of the smartest travel hacks I’ve ever used. It slides right over your carry-on handle and adds instant extra space with multiple pockets. One for your laptop, one for snacks or travel documents, and even a zipper pouch for smaller items like chargers or lip balm.

I used to balance my personal items on top of my suitcase while running through the airport. This organizer keeps everything in place and is easy to grab. It’s especially handy when you need your ID or boarding pass in a hurry.
Pro Tip: Use it to store your “in-flight” kit, like your headphones, sanitizer, water bottle, snacks, charger, so you can just grab it and slide it under your seat when you board. It keeps the rest of your carry-on organized.
5. Vacuum Bags AND Electric Pump
Okay, these are next-level, and yes, they actually work. The set even includes a rechargeable electric pump that’s small enough to toss in your bag.

Personal Tip: These are perfect for separating “clean” and “dirty” clothes mid-trip. Just re-vacuum your used clothes before heading home, and you’ll have room for souvenirs or snacks. (Because let’s be real, I always bring back Disney treats.)
BONUS: More Than Just a Neck Pillow
Alright, I know we said five, but we had to throw this one in from Target, and you’ll see why! This might just be the most genius travel hack I’ve come across yet. The Open Story Packing Cube with Neck Pillow looks like your typical travel pillow at first glance, but it’s hiding a brilliant secret: it’s actually hollow inside. That means you can stuff it with clothes that won’t fit in your bag.
It’s more than a neck pillow! You can stash small items like socks, handkerchiefs, ties, and more that act as cushioning for the pillow. For $10, it’s a total steal, and for overpackers like me, it’s worth it!

When it’s not in use, it folds down super small, making it an easy item to toss in your luggage for your next trip. It’s lightweight, comfortable, and honestly a dream come true for chronic overpackers like me.
Personal Tip: You can use it to pack your favorite blanket, and it instantly frees up space in your carry-on. Extra shirt? No problem! Roll it up inside this.
In the meantime, we’ll be keeping an eye out for the latest Disney deals, so make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for more!
