A new Harry Potter show is coming, and we just found out who will be playing the lead roles!
According to Variety, HBO has officially found its new Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley for their new Harry Potter series. Filming for the new show is expected to begin this summer, so we have been curious about who will be filling these roles for quite some time.
The wait is over, and the new Harry Potter trio has been released! Dominic McLaughlin will play the role of Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout will be playing Ron Weasley. We can’t get over how adorable they are, and we can’t wait to see them in this new show!
While these actors are largely newcomers, two of them do have some previous roles under their belts. Dominic McLaughlin acted in “Grow” and Arabella Stanton has starred in “Matilda: The Musical” on the West End. The Harry Potter show will be the first major role for Alastair Stout.
There were more than 30,000 actors who auditioned for these lead roles in the new Harry Potter show. Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer and director Mark Mylod said in a statement that “the talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen.” They also thanked everyone who took the time to audition and applauded the “plethora of young talent out there.”
HBO has also announced others who will be portraying characters in this new show, including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch. We still have quite a bit of time before we can watch this new show, but we are excited!
The new show will be a faithful adaptation of the original seven Harry Potter books. It won’t be new storylines, but instead a retelling of the same stories. Stay tuned to AllEars for more news about the new HBO Harry Potter series!
