2 New SCAMS to Avoid in Disney World

As unfortunate as it is, scams happen all the time in and around Disney World.

It’s always important to read the fine print before purchasing tickets and/or room packages. And you’ll want to be sure you are aware of what exactly you’re buying from Disney. But there are two scams we’re talking about today that aren’t from the Disney company at all, but they’re just as important to watch out for.

If you ever find tickets for Disney World that seem unusually cheap, that may be your sign that it’s a scam. Be sure to watch out for these TWO ticket scams as you are planning your Disney trip.

Ticket Re-Sales

Sometimes you’ll find really cheap tickets for sale online, on social media, or even at ticket booths. It has become a common occurrence for people to sell partially used tickets. They’ll use one of their four days on the ticket and then try to sell it to you without telling you. Or you’ll be tempted to purchase it, knowing it’s partially used but for a cheaper price, only to find out that it is not valid once you’re at the gate.

Disney World Ticket Cards

Disney specifically states that “Tickets are nontransferable and nonrefundable and may not be resold.” So by selling these tickets, they are breaking Disney rules and policy. The tickets are null and void and will not work for you. Don’t fall into this scam!

Timeshare Presentations

Some travel and hotel companies may offer you cheap, discounted (and valid) Disney tickets which can seem very tempting. However, they come with the cost of your time. To get these tickets, you may have to agree to a non-Disney timeshare presentation (this is not Disney Vacation Club).

You might be uncomfortably pressured into taking these deals or lose valuable time in the parks because you ended up committed to a timeshare presentation. Sometimes, you can unknowingly sign up for this just by purchasing the tickets and then end up having to fulfill the agreement. Unless you are interested in learning more about a timeshare program, remember to read the fine print and skip these offers!

Your best bet at buying valid and no-strings-attached Disney tickets is on their website, at the gate, or through an affiliated seller such as Target or, if you’re a military service member, Shades of Green or on your base.
