If becoming a Disney Parks “know-it-all” is a goal of yours, you’ve come to the right place!

The Disney Parks each have their own set of quirks, secrets, and special tidbits that make them special. The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California is certainly no exception. As Walt Disney’s first theme park, Disneyland opened in 1955 and has carried its fair share of history and secrets — including some secret locations!
While Disneyland has several areas that are only popular with Disney experts and Disneyland locals, there are a few secret locations that YOU should know about before your next trip to Disneyland. While these locations aren’t overtly concealed by Disney, they are still easy to miss and aren’t typically advertised by Disney. Whether you plan to visit these spots or just brag to your friends and family about your extensive Disneyland knowledge, here are three top-secret Disneyland places you should know!
Walt Disney’s Apartment

If you’ve ever walked down Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland you could’ve easily missed one of the more historic landmarks in all of Disneyland. Located above the Disneyland Fire Department near the front entrance of Disneyland, Walt Disney’s apartment remains a nostalgic reminder of The Happiest Place on Earth’s founder.
Walt had the apartment built above the firehouse as a place to go after long work nights or a place to spend time with family. He would keep the light on in the front window to let workers know when he was in the park. Today, Walt’s apartment light remains on as a beacon of respect and can be seen clearly from the street. If you have the time and money, you can even take a tour inside!

Matterhorn Basketball Court

Hidden inside the structure about two-thirds up the mountain, you can find a small basketball court. This court is about a quarter the size of a regulation-sized court but is still a really neat and unexpected addition to Disneyland. Built to accommodate hired Matterhorn climbers, this court serves as a break room as well as an area for employees to shoot some hoops!
Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough

The true centerpiece of Disneyland is, of course, Sleeping Beauty Castle. Inspired by Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, this neo-romantic castle in front of Fantasyland contains a usually empty secret attraction. Inside, you’ll find a walkthrough attraction that tells the story of Sleeping Beauty in a series of illustrated storybook pages and animated 3-D window scenes.
Guests can enter the castle through an unassuming doorway on the backside of the castle, which will take them up the stairs and into different passageways. During the walkthrough, you can peer into windows that depict scenes from the animated film with some additional special effects.
For those who are unable to climb up and down the walkthrough, a virtual experience is available on the ground floor. If you are willing to meander through the tightly spaced and winding castle, the odds of waiting in line to access this hidden location are slim to none. If you never knew about this hidden gem, be sure to check it out during your next Disneyland trip!
