Between many shows being taken off of various services, other ones being canceled, and other services upping their prices time and time again, it’s difficult to keep up with the latest news. If you’re a user of Amazon Prime Video, we have to warn you that a price hike and ads are coming to the service.

According to CNBC, Amazon Prime Video will begin rolling out ads on their platform starting in early 2024. The service currently costs $14.99 a month, and if users want to avoid ads interrupting their watching, it’ll cost an additional $2.99 a month.

Current customers will receive an email in the weeks leading up to the change, encouraging them to sign up for the ad-free tier. However, Amazon has said that they plan to have “meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming providers.”

Amazon joins other companies like Netflix, Disney+, Max, and more in bringing ads to their platform, as it offers an additional source of revenue for them. While the change will start in the United States, it will roll out to more countries as 2024 continues.
