REOPENING DATE Revealed For Fan-Favorite Ride in Disneyland

Disney rides often close for a variety of reasons.

Sometimes those rides just have technical difficulties. Other times rides close due to the weather. And during some periods rides end up closing for scheduled refurbishments. One ride — a true Disney classic — has been closed for refurbishment for a little while, but now we know when it will reopen.

The Matterhorn Bobsleds in Disneyland’s Fantasyland closed for refurbishment on April 17th. At the time, Disney didn’t announce when the ride might reopen and the Disneyland calendar showed it closed at least through April 21st. But now we have an UPDATE.

The Disneyland website now shows operating hours for the ride on June 2nd. On that date, the ride also appears to come off the Disneyland reimbursement calendar. So it seems likely that the ride will reopen on that date.

Note that things are subject to change. But, you should generally expect to see the Matterhorn closed for the next few weeks.

Here’s a bit of Matterhorn trivia: The Matterhorn was the first roller coaster in the world to employ a tubular steel track and an electronic dispatch system which enabled more than one car at a time to be on the track. It was also built to 1/100th scale of the original Matterhorn.
