UPDATE on Magic Key Pass Sales for Disneyland

If you’ve been hoping to get a new Magic Key pass for Disneyland, we’ve got HUGE news.

Magic Key passes (Disneyland’s updated version of Annual Passes) became available some time ago. Some passes sold out and later sales of ALL passes were paused. They became available again (rather suddenly!) in 2022, but shortly thereafter ALL new sales for Magic Key passes were paused (again) (though existing Magic Key pass holders are still able to renew their passes). This left many wondering, “when will NEW Magic Key passes go on sale?” Well, we now have that answer.

According to Disney, they’ve been “thrilled” at the “ongoing demand” for the Magic Key passes. And soon more guests will have the chance to become Magic Key pass holders.

Disney has announced that Disneyland Resort will be making “select Magic Key passes available for new sales from time to time throughout 2023 as pass inventory becomes available.”

Let’s break that down. Thus far, Disney has only shared that “select” Magic Key passes will go on sale throughout 2023 — meaning, they may not make all pass types available for new purchases.

Second, they will only be available from “time to time” throughout the year — a.k.a. you’re going to want to subscribe to our newsletter, check the AllEars site frequently, and look on the Disneyland Magic Key site for updates!

And finally, the passes will only go on sale “as pass inventory becomes available.” Disney has shared that the quantity of the passes and the pass types available for “renewal or purchase” might be limited and some might be unavailable from time to time.

So, there are still quite a few unknowns here, but if you have been hoping to buy a Magic Key pass, this is a step in the right direction. We’ll be on the lookout for more news about when Magic Key passes may go on sale again, so stay tuned for that.
