Nearly ten months after the theme parks began their prolonged closure, the Disneyland Resort will reopen a portion of its property to certain members of the public, but under truly unique circumstances that one year ago the Anaheim resort could likely never imagine.

Orange County continues to be under a regional stay-at-home order, but eligible individuals may soon step foot on Disneyland property to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. This location, reported by Orange County Register, will be the first “Super POD (point-of-dispensing)” site of the vaccine in the county.
The exact vaccine distribution site will be located off of Katella Avenue in Anaheim, north of the Toy Story Parking Lot. The lot was previously used by Cast Members and before the closures was used as overflow guest parking.

According to the photo from Orange County Register, tents are already up at the location. Individuals could begin arriving by appointment as soon as later this week.

When the site first opens, it will only be available to individuals who live or work in Orange County and are eligible to receive the vaccine based on California’s priority list. According to Orange County Register, this includes “people working in health care, including hospital, lab and pharmacy employees, paramedics and EMTs, home health aides, as well as long-term care facility residents and workers.” If an individual is eligible to receive the vaccine at this location, they will likely be notified through their employer.

Dr. Pamela Hymel, chief medical officer for Disney Parks, Experiences and Products commented, “Disneyland Resort is proud to help support Orange County and the city of Anaheim with the use of our property, and we are grateful for all of their efforts to combat COVID-19…After a year in which so many in our community have faced unprecedented hardship and uncertainty, there is now reason for optimism with the administration of a vaccine.”

The Disneyland Resort will serve as one of five planned “mass vaccination sites” in Orange County. We’ll keep an eye on any developments surrounding this story and we will keep you up-to-date with all the latest information!
