We love going to Universal Studios Hollywood, but this massive new change could make our next trip look totally different!

Universal Studios Hollywood just implemented new security measures on Wednesday that completely change how you get into CityWalk and the theme parks.
This new security system begins security screening before you enter Universal CityWalk, a departure from the security-free shopping center with security lines at the park gates like before. Universal announced the new security setup includes three hubs: the main entry plaza, a checkpoint adjacent to the Jurassic Parking structure near NBC Sports Grill & Brew and the new Mr. BBQ restaurant, and another near Margaritaville in the former iFly location.

“As the Universal Studios Hollywood destination continues to evolve, we are aligning our security protocols with other Universal destinations across the country by adding metal detection hubs adjacent to the parking structures,” a Universal Studios Hollywood spokesperson said in a press release to KTLA.

The goal of the new system is to place CityWalk inside a secured perimeter, similar to the setup at the Disneyland Resort in neighboring Anaheim. There, guests pass through security before accessing Downtown Disney, which leads to the theme parks Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Previously at Universal Studios Hollywood, guests walked through CityWalk before encountering security to enter the theme park.

We’ll be sure to update on how the new security process worked for us on our next visit to Universal Studios Hollywood. Stay tuned to AllEars for more Universal news!
