FIRST LOOK: A New Mickey Mouse Collection Is Dropping Soon!

Calling all Disney explorers! There’s a new Disney merchandise collection coming soon. It’s going to be perfect for fans of all things Mickey Mouse, and someone VERY special designed the entire thing.

There’s a new collection from the mind of Bret Iwan coming to Disney World and Disneyland at the beginning of November. The Expedition Mickey Mouse Collection is great for outdoor adventures, no matter when you may be traveling, and we already have a feeling it’ll be selling out fast!

Bret Iwan is best known as one of only four voices for Mickey and has been speaking for him for the last ten years. He became the official voice for Mickey Mouse in 2009, right after the previous voice actor, Wayne Allwine, passed away. His first full performance as Mickey was in the 2009 show Disney On Ice: Celebrations, but to date, his voice has also been used throughout the Disney World parks, including in iconic shows like Fantasmic!

However, in addition to voicing the mouse who started it all, he’s also a visual creative and is taking the helm as lead designer, reimagining Mickey in a way that is near and dear to his own heart for this new collection. Not only did he do all the artwork for this new apparel, but he also had a say in the color, fabric, textures, stitching, and overall construction, which was a first for him.

When chatting with Disney about the new collection, he said, “As the voice of Mickey, it’s really important for me to know the character: to know his history, to know his legacy, to know what he would and wouldn’t do, what he would and wouldn’t say, and even how he thinks. Similarly, that same detail-focused mindset goes into developing a collection like this.”

As getting outdoors and exploring is one of Iwan’s favorite things to do, he really wanted the feel of this collection to be based around vintage national parks and outdoor living. For the past ten years, he’s collected Disney Fine Art’s Cyclops Print Works, which are all centered around Mickey visiting different National Parks, and that was a big inspiration for this collection.

One of our other favorite quotes from Iwan was that he feels Mickey is an adventurous spirit, and that Walt was as well, since he feels Walt and Mickey are pretty synonymous. He went on to say, “I think Mickey is the personification of a lot of Walt’s qualities. And so my hope is that this collection represents that same spirit of adventure, and maybe even that spirit of curiosity that I tie to Walt so often.” BRB — we’re getting teary-eyed.

He also admitted that this collection is made up of pieces he’d want in his own closet, including baseball caps, t-shirts, cozy flannels, and more. One of his favorites? The utility jacket, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see it be one of the first items to sell out. If you want to be one of the first to see this new collection, you’ll want to head into Disney Springs on November 1st to see Bret Iwan in the Disney Artist Showcase!

At the start of the event, you can participate in a live Q&A with Iwan at the AdventHealth Waterside Stage, then watch Iwan as he performs the World of Disney magical moment opening ceremony, and finally go to Disney’s Wonderful World of Memories to meet him and receive a pre-signed item. Once the collection is fully available in Disneyland on October 31st and in Disney World on November 1st, you can find it at these locations:
